Following more than a two-year break after the festival was cancelled in 2020 and postponed in 2021 due to the impact of COVID-19, KINEKO finally comes back!

Being the largest international film festival for children and families in Japan, KINEKO welcomes over 100,000 visitors every year at its venues in Futakotamagawa, Tokyo. In addition to a conventional cinema, over 50 films from countries all over the world will be screened at a variety of places, such as a hall equipped with sofas and mats, where families can relax and watch films in a home-like atmosphere, or in cafes and studios, turning the whole town into a movie theater!

One of the most prominent characteristics of KINEKO is “Live Cinema”, live voice-over by professional voice actors done on the spot in front of the audience, allowing even small children who cannot read subtitles to enjoy international movies. Spanning over 5 days, the festival offers a wide selection of experiences for children of various ages in a number of workshops, opportunities to ride a hot air balloon or music and performance events. New initiatives this year include the first film program for teenagers or the hospital project, bringing films to children struggling with serious illnesses who cannot leave the hospital to go to cinema.
